Yuliia Svyrydenko, First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy of Ukraine, presented investment projects in the energy and critical materials sector at the 5th Energy Transition Forum 2024 in Washington, D.C. The event was attended by global energy and critical materials companies.
“The United States is one of the most active partners in terms of supporting Ukraine’s energy system. Since the start of the full-scale invasion, USAID has provided nearly USD 1 billion in energy sector assistance, including emergency support to repair and maintain Ukraine’s energy infrastructure. The recently launched five-year SPARC project provides further support to strengthen Ukraine’s energy security. We are grateful for this assistance and call on other institutions and the private sector to join these efforts,” said Yuliia Svyrydenko.
In her speech, the First Deputy Prime Minister noted that despite the war, investments in the energy sector and production could be profitable for potential investors.
She called on U.S. companies to participate in joint ventures to increase oil and gas production. There are also opportunities for cooperation in the field of critical raw materials, in particular, American companies can participate in projects as partners of license holders in Ukraine or obtain licences directly from the Government of Ukraine.
Yuliia Svyrydenko also called on companies to localise their production in Ukraine by cooperating with Ukrainian energy companies.
She expressed gratitude to the United States for its strong support of Ukraine’s energy sector, which had been severely impacted by russia’s attacks.
