Yulia Svyrydenko discussed educational safety, college development, and NUS reform with Oksen Lisovyi
Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko held a working meeting with Minister of Education and Science Oksen Lisovyi. The topics of discussion covered educational safety, college development, and the New Ukrainian School (NUS) reform.
“30 communities will receive over UAH 2 billion to equip shelters in educational institutions. The Government has approved the allocation of the subsidy. Priority will be given to schools in communities with very high risk levels, as well as military lyceums. In total, UAH 5 billion are earmarked for shelters in general secondary education institutions in 2026,” the Head of Government noted.
The modernization of vocational and pre-higher education is ongoing—in 2026, UAH 1 billion will be allocated for this purpose, with co-financing. The funds will go toward upgrading laboratories and classrooms as part of the “100 Workshops” project, completing ongoing projects, and improving energy efficiency.
As part of the Resilience Plans, 500 educational institutions, including vocational schools, will be equipped with alternative power sources by the end of the year.
Special attention was given to the New Ukrainian School (NUS) reform as the foundation for improving the quality of education and integration into the European space.
“Today, the NUS represents a systematic transition from the post-Soviet model of education to a modern system that meets current requirements and challenges,” noted Yulia Svyrydenko.
