Yulia Svyrydenko: Our task is to get through the winter with heat, despite the challenges of war

A meeting of the Anti-Crisis Energy Headquarters was held with the participation of relevant ministries and energy companies to assess the state of the energy system and agree on response algorithms to wartime challenges under various scenarios. This was reported by Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Svyrydenko.

“Among the main topics were the launch of the heating season, increasing imports of energy resources; scaling up generation, including distributed generation, and the needs for rapid restoration and repairs after damage,” noted the Head of Government. “The heating season has started as planned. Now our task is to get through the entire winter with heat.”

According to the Prime Minister, one of the priorities is the development of distributed generation. This enables communities to maintain energy resilience even during massive attacks. Some 1.8 GW of distributed generation has already been commissioned, and capacities will continue to be increased.

The Government coordinates actions daily with regional administrations, communities, and specialised services. Particular attention was paid to frontline regions, where russia systematically shells energy facilities in an attempt to deprive communities of heat. The readiness of communities for crisis situations was reviewed. More than 8,000 Points of Invincibility are operating continuously, with another 4,000 ready for deployment in the event of outages. All are equipped with fuel and means of communication.

“Additionally, under the Winter Support programmes, we are maintaining fixed prices for gas and electricity for household consumers so that Ukrainian families can get through the winter without additional financial pressure,” reported Yulia Svyrydenko. “All relevant ministries have been tasked with ensuring the proper functioning of the energy system.

We continue working to ensure heat and light in the homes of Ukrainians, despite the challenges of war.”
