The experience of male and female veterans of military service is unique and valuable to society as a whole. Support for employment and professional development after service is an important part of veterans’ policy. Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko emphasized that.

According to her, one such opportunity is the role of a specialist in supporting war veterans and demobilized individuals.

Today, more than 2,500 such specialists work in communities across Ukraine. They provide assistance in interacting with government agencies, offer advice on support services and programs, and help with paperwork, housing, and rehabilitation.

Over 1,000 specialists (43%) have combat experience themselves, have relatives on the front lines, or have lost loved ones during the war, so they deeply understand the needs of defenders. Among them is Maria Stelmashchuk, a veteran from the Ustyluzh community in Volyn, for whom this work has become a continuation of her own path after service.

Yulia Svyrydenko emphasized that it is crucial for the Government to ensure support for veterans is accessible in every community. A support specialist can be found online through the “Veteran PRO” service in the “Diia” app, as well as through the departments for veteran policy operating in regions, districts, and communities.
