The Cabinet of Ministers has approved the allocation of UAH 369.36 million in STEM funding as part of the “Profile” senior school reform. The amount allocated to each approved community, along with the list of educational institutions, can be viewed via the provided link (in Ukrainian).

The total funding amounts to UAH 499.4 million. These funds will enable educational institutions to equip biology, physics, chemistry, geography, mathematics classrooms, and STEM laboratories with:

  • modern laboratory equipment;
  • computer technology and interactive learning tools;
  • new furniture.

The focus of the funding will be on creating a unified educational environment within schools – known as a STEM cluster. This involves not just equipping a single classroom but comprehensively upgrading multiple classrooms on the same floor or wing. This includes both equipping classrooms with modern technology and renovating the premises.

Funding for renovation works must be provided by local authorities or other sources not prohibited by law.

Applications for the funding were submitted by local councils and regional military administrations from 8 to 18 April.

Requirements for educational institutions to receive funding included:

  • offering in-person or blended (a combination of in-person and distance) learning;
  • ensuring the provision of profile secondary education in the 2027/2028 academic year (in line with the prospective development plan for general secondary education institutions);
  • as of 1 January 2025, having at least 60 students per parallel in 7th grade, or providing education exclusively in grades 8–11(12), 9–11(12), or 10–11(12), or, according to the prospective development plan for general secondary education institutions of local self-government bodies, being the only institution providing profile secondary education in the territorial community in the 2027/2028 academic year;
  • providing school bus transportation (for institutions in rural areas).

Thanks to this funding, students will have the opportunity to learn in modern educational spaces starting in the 2025/2026 academic year, and from 2027, they will be able to study chosen subjects and courses in greater depth.
