Unified rules for managing intellectual property in the defence-industrial complex introduced: Ministry of Defence
The Government has approved a policy on the management of intellectual property in Ukraine’s defence-industrial complex.
The document establishes clear approaches to protecting rights to defence technologies and ensuring their effective use in production for the needs of the Defence Forces.
Common rules for the defence market
Ukraine has unique combat experience and is creating solutions that are already changing the course of the war.
“Our goal is to protect rights to defence technologies and ensure their effective use in production for defence needs,” said Minister of Defence Mykhailo Fedorov.
The updated policy provides for:
- protection of rights to technologies created in the state sector or procured with public funds;
- clear rules for state customers and enterprises on managing intellectual property;
- the ability to effectively scale up already developed solutions in production.
Private sector enterprises may adapt the approaches to their own operational needs.
Scaling solutions and cooperation with partners
The introduction of the policy creates uniform rules of the game for all participants in the defence market and enables faster implementation of technologies into production.
“Respecting intellectual property rights is the foundation of trust in relations with international partners and a prerequisite for the development of joint defence projects,” emphasised the Minister of Defence.
The Ministry of Defence continues to build a transparent and effective system of defence innovations. This is another step towards Ukraine’s technological self-sufficiency and the scaling of the best solutions for the front line.
