Within the framework of the Investment Forum in Mariupol, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Digital Transformation Mykhailo Fedorov opened the first Startup Development Center in Eastern Ukraine and a new space for learning and developing IT initiatives of the 1991 Mariupol region.
“Ukraine is the State of innovation that has found itself in extraordinary conditions, so it is developing new business models and its particular path. Mariupol annually produces 6,000 programmers. If these guys and girls are given an opportunity to work here, then the city will become a center of innovation. I want the phrase ‘Mariupol Startup’ to sound deserving and clear to every investor", said President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy during the opening of the 1991 Mariupol Centre.
The founders of the Startup Center expect that the combination of Mariupol's industrial potential and a large number of talented IT specialists in the region will help to create a number of successful innovative projects.
“The development center, hub, coworking was created on the basis of the library. We are considering a similar idea to open a national network of educational hubs to teach Ukrainians digital skills. We are planning to launch an online education platform by the end of winter of 2020. And in the spring - the first hub,” added Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Digital Transformation Mykhailo Fedorov.
The 1991 Mariupol will host accelerator and educational programs for youth, entrepreneurs and IT specialists, traineeships for students, government agencies personnel and industrial enterprises' employees. There has been also created co-working for young startup teams and IT entrepreneurs with access to special technical and non-technical partnership conditions.
