JSC Ukrzaliznytsia is the first among other large state-owned enterprises to have received a strategy for their further development which is a key document outlining the clear goals and objectives of Ukraine's main rail carrier. The Supervisory Board and the updated Ukrzaliznytsia Board were engaged in shaping this document, and the Government is pleased with the result. This was stated by Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Kistion during the Government meeting.
According to Volodymyr Kistion, the document approved by the government defined a clear vector of development of Ukrzaliznytsya by 2023 and gave an understanding of the functioning of the Ukrainian railway carrier after 5 years.
The Deputy Prime Minister outlined five keys tasks for Ukrzaliznytsia in the short-term perspective. It is a timely and proper provision of the needs of the economy in transportation, a stable financial standing of the enterprise, renovation of the basic assets, in particular carriages, safety of transportations and decent wages for workers.
"The Government as a stockholder wants to turn Ukrzaliznytsia into a powerful European rail carrier and to ensure its services meet the needs of both ordinary Ukrainians and business. Thus, effectiveness of the state depends on the efficiency of the Ukrainian railways", Volodymyr Kistion summed up.
