Government stands ready to contribute in every possible way to the progressive development  of the Ukrainian railway. Our joint task is to  boost competitiveness of Ukrzaliznytsia to ensure that both ordinary Ukrainians and business are satisfied with the quality of the company's services. This was stated by Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Kistion during festivities on the occasion of the Day of the Railwayman.

According to him, during the last two years systemic transformations in the management of the railway industry were observed. Ukrzaliznytsia is being updated both from the inside and outside. The system of corporate governance is being implemented, the independent supervisory board  consisting of the world's best industry experts is formed, carriages are being modernized, new locomotives are purchased, stations are electrified, and etc.

"I praise the ability of  Ukrzaliznytsia management team to respond promptly to the urgent needs of domestic coal miners, metallurgists, agrarians, representatives of other manufacturing industries in cargo transporting of their products to the consumer.  I would like to place a special emphasis on the ability to set ambitious goals and achieve results", Volodymyr Kistion stressed.

The Vice Prime Minister cited as an examples - the completion of the construction of the Beskydy tunnel which is a long-term construction, the idea of which arose in the 90's, and the launch of the of the high-speed railway line from  Kyiv-Passagyrsky station to Boryspil Airport.

Volodymyr Kistion also expressed hope for the continuation of the trend of recent years - the opening of new routes to Europe for Ukrainian citizens. Already existing connections are very popular, therefore, it is still worth working to ensure that Ukrainians can travel freely to the world countries.

"I am convinced that thanks to the highly skilled workers of the industry-Ukrainian railwaymen have always been professionals, Ukrzaliznytsia can shortly be transformed into a powerful European-style rail carrier.  We should bear in mind that we are making transformations in the state for the sake of our children ",Volodymyr Kistion summed up.
