The establishment and equipping of regional healthcare institutions - from medical and obstetrical stations to specialized clinics - is the responsibility of the districts and communities to which these institutions belong. The Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman said in an interview with one of the TV channels.
"Hospitals belong to districts and municipalities. And these areas - due to decentralization – have billions on accounts. And I demand that leaders of the districts and municipalities act for the benefits of citizens. Hospitals, rural health posts should be repaired and equipped, and people should get decent conditions for treatment", the Head of Government stressed.
He drew attention to the fact that such things, as well as the basics of medical reform, need to be discussed and communicated to people.
"For example, now we experience transition to a contractual basis in healthcare sector. In fact, this is the first step on the way to insurance medicine", stressed the Head of Government. "We drafted the bill, passed it in Parliament, the document came into force. Today there is an opportunity to conclude an agreement with a doctor who will provide you with quality services. And under this contract the state will pay specifically to this doctor for you as a patient. Just for the service, instead of paying for walls or patient capacity."
The PM noted that the reform is not always popular. And there is always a chance to leave it there. "But the existing state of affairs did not satisfy ordinary people", underscored Volodymyr Groysman.
