Volodymyr Borodianskyy presented Dovzhenko State Award to the Ukrainian director Serhii Loznytsia

On September 26, 2019, in Kyiv, the Ukrainian filmmaker Serhii Loznytsia received Olexandr Dovzhenko State Award for a feature film Donbas.

The award was presented by the Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports of Ukraine Volodymyr Borodianskyy.

“With your name, Ukraine connects the revival of the Ukrainian cinema and the revival of cultural diplomacy. What you are doing is representing Ukraine abroad. It is very good that we are recognized not only for problems but also for artistic achievements - in many respects, it is your merit”, said Volodymyr Borodianskyy.

"It is a great honor for me to receive such an important State Award", the director said.

It should be noted that on July 3, 2019, the Committee on the Olexandr Dovzhenko State Award unanimously (8 votes out of 8) applied to the President of Ukraine to present the 2019 Award to Serhii Loznytsia for the 2018 Donbas film.

On August 28, the President of Ukraine signed relevant Decree No. 630/2019.
