The Government has been pursuing the state strategy for energy recovery in three areas. This was emphasized by Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal at a solemn ceremony to honour energy sector workers. The event was also attended by Minister of Energy German Galushchenko.

According to him, primary attention is paid to the restoration of destroyed facilities. "Last year, about 4 GW of thermal and hydropower capacity was restored," said Denys Shmyhal.

In addition, the Prime Minister noted that the Government works to develop decentralized and diversified energy.

"In 2025, we plan to commission about 900 MW of new capacities. So far, 130 MW of cogeneration capacities and 250 MW of thermal power have already been commissioned," he said.

Denys Shmyhal mentioned attracting international support as another area of work. He said that during the full-scale war, Ukraine had received more than 1,800 humanitarian shipments for energy companies from 38 countries, while the Energy Support Fund had collected contributions of more than EUR 1.1 billion.

"We look forward to further systematic and consistent support from the international community," he stressed.

Denys Shmyhal thanked the power engineers for their resilience and professionalism.

"Despite russia's massive attacks on the energy infrastructure since the onset of the full-scale invasion, Ukraine has maintained the integrity of the system. This is the result of the joint work of the Government and our power engineers. Special thanks to those who are repairing equipment under fire, returning heat and light to homes, working seven days a week, and ensuring the stability of the power system," the Prime Minister said.
