The Ukrainian side was represented by Vitalii Koval, Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine, First Deputy and Deputy Ministers of Economy of Ukraine, Deputy Ministers of Energy and Communities and Territories Development of Ukraine. Japanese business was represented by companies operating in the fields of energy and energy efficiency, manufacturing, logistics, IT, Agritech, etc.
"We are extremely pleased to welcome you to our country. Ukraine is grateful to Japan for its tremendous support since the first days of the full-scale invasion. I would also like to thank you for the financial and organizational assistance in our country's participation in Expo-2025. We reassure you that the war is not an obstacle to cooperation and investment in the Ukrainian economy.
Your presence here today and your interest in working in Ukraine is another proof of this," said Yuliia Svyrydenko.
At the meeting, representatives of Japanese business presented their companies and told about the projects they have already implemented in Ukraine or are planning to implement.
In turn, the Japanese delegation was briefed on the current economic situation in Ukraine and the investment opportunities in priority areas that our country offers to its partners.
The parties also discussed the current progress of a large-scale UNIDO project with a budget of USD 188 million aimed at green revitalization of Ukraine's industry. The project is being implemented with the support of the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan and is part of the UNIDO Green Industrial Recovery Program for Ukraine for 2024-2028. Under the project, businesses can receive grants of up to USD 10 million.
"This technology transfer project is unique and really important for Ukraine. We have concrete results that will be presented at the Ukraine Recovery Conference in Rome in the coming days. We believe that the implementation of this project is a great example for other countries so we would like to share this experience," said Deputy Minister of Economy Andrii Teliupa.
Also, as mentioned at the meeting, Ukraine is extremely interested in Japan's participation in the project to restore industrial enterprises destroyed as a result of Russian aggression. This project, which provides for the supply of modern equipment for industry to Ukraine, will also be presented at the URC-2025 in Rome.
