Ukraine re-elected to the Council of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations
Ukraine has been re-elected to the Council of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO). This is another step towards strengthening Ukraine's voice on the global food map.
This was announced by Vitalii Koval, Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine.
"This decision is a recognition not only of our endurance during the war, but also of the key role played by the Ukrainian agricultural sector in ensuring food stability in the world. We thank all UN member states for their support," Vitalii Koval emphasized.
According to him, despite russia's full-scale aggression, Ukraine continues to feed about 400 million people worldwide and is expanding its humanitarian initiatives. In particular, through the presidential program Grain from Ukraine, which has already saved millions of lives.
In the new status, we will work on:
- improving FAO's response to global food challenges;
- supporting farmers in crisis regions; and
- promoting modern agricultural policy - from sustainable production to digital solutions.
“And most importantly, the voice of the Ukrainian farmer will now be heard at the global level - strongly, reasonably and independently,” the Minister emphasized.
