Temperature screening measures being held at checkpoints and international airports were applied to 75,000 people for the past 24 hours. Not one person was isolated or transferred to infectious hospitals. This was announced by Deputy Minister of Health of Ukraine Viktor Lyashko at a briefing at the Government House.
The Deputy Minister reminded that several people were isolated in the first day of temperature screening and that nobody had tested positively for new coronavirus. "Two people suspected of coronavirus infection are from Chernivtsi region. They have been tested and we are waiting for the results," the Deputy Minister said.
Victor Lyashko also stressed that the Government is constantly receiving information from the regions, including the readiness of healthcare institutions and laboratories to respond promptly to possible cases of coronavirus infection in Ukraine.
The Deputy Minister of Health urged citizens to refrain from travelling to countries where outbreaks of infection were recorded: "I would like to once again urge all Ukrainians in connection with the spread of coronavirus in the countries of the European Union to refrain from travelling to these countries in order to protect health and prevent the introduction of COVID-19 on the territory of Ukraine."
Viktor Lyashko also recalled the Ministry of Health's general recommendations for the prevention of infectious diseases: to wash hands more often, to air the premises, to do wet cleaning and, if possible, to get vaccinated.
The Deputy Minister also informed about people under observation: "Today is the eighth day of the quarantine of Ukrainians and foreigners evacuated from the Wuhan, China. According to the results of the morning medical examination, they did not reveal any health problems. Today we got the results of tests for a new coronavirus of all evacuees: all 89 people are healthy. Samples were also taken from the team members and crew, who are also under observation. We expect results."
