On August 19, Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine - Minister of Strategic Industries of Ukraine Oleh Urusky met with President of the Turkish Space Agency Serdar Hüseyin Yildirim at the IDEF 2021 International Defense Industry Fair (Istanbul, Turkey).
"Cooperation between Ukraine and the Republic of Turkey in the field of space exploration and use is an area that opens up many opportunities for both countries. In the last few years, the dialogue between our countries has significantly intensified, aimed at defining and concretizing the nature of possible cooperation," said the Minister of Strategic Industries.
The parties tackled opportunities for cooperation in the field of space carriers and components, space monitoring and remote sensing of the Earth, creation of platforms for satellites, shared use of terrestrial space infrastructure, production of delivery vehicles under the Lunar Program and much more.
The Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine informed that the approval of the State Scientific and Technical Space Program, which contains many potential directions for possible Ukrainian-Turkish cooperation, is currently being finalized in Ukraine. Oleg Uruskyi also said that the reform process had been launched in Ukraine, in particular, the Rocket and Space Holding will be established and will include key enterprises of the space industry, including the corporatized Pivdenne Design Bureau and the Pivdenmash State Enterprise.
The Minister of Strategic Industries stressed that Ukraine is open to a meaningful dialogue in order to find joint promising projects in the space sphere that will benefit both Ukraine and the Republic of Turkey.
For his part, Serdar Yildirim thanked the Ukrainian leadership for the attention it pays to relations with the Republic of Turkey in the field of space activities, and expressed confidence that Ukrainian-Turkish cooperation in this area will soon yield concrete results.
