An updated information system to account for and visualise the civil protection fund has been launched in Ukraine. Citizens will now have quick access to information, which means quick access to safety.
“Today, in the context of the full-scale invasion of russia, the protection of the population and territories is certainly one of the priorities of the State Emergency Service and the Ministry of Internal Affairs. And shelters are one of the protective measures that save the lives of our citizens,” said Volodymyr Demchuk, acting Head of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine.
The State Emergency Service and police conduct monitoring and quarterly surveys to update data on the state of the shelters. At the end of 2023, the number of shelters that meet the standards increased by almost 2,000.
As of today, about 84% of the more than 60,000 civilian protection facilities in the government-controlled area meet the established requirements. At the beginning of the full-scale invasion, this figure was three times lower.
The updated interactive system of accounting for civilian protective structures allows for prompt and high-quality processing of statistical data and ensures that the population is informed about the availability and accessibility of shelters. With the support of the Ministry of Digital Transformation, the shelter accounting system is now available through the Diia app.
The project was initiated by the Ministry of Internal Affairs. The project was supported by international partners USAID GOVERLA and the East Europe Foundation.
