Ministry of Health of Ukraine, posted 21 May 2024 11:51

Since the beginning of the full-scale war, russia's attacks and shelling of Ukrainian civilian infrastructure, including medical facilities, have caused damage to 1604 medical facilities and resulted in the complete destruction of 211 more. It should be noted that russia has been targeting Ukrainian hospitals, maternity wards, outpatient clinics, polyclinics, etc.

The medical infrastructure of Kharkiv, Donetsk, Mykolaiv, Kyiv, Dnipro, Chernihiv, Zaporizhzhia, and Kherson regions suffered the greatest losses. Information about Luhansk region is currently not available in full.

During this time, the russian army also damaged 164 ambulances, destroyed another 261 vehicles and seized 125 vehicles.

However, despite the systematic shelling and attacks by russia, Ukraine continues to rebuild its medical infrastructure. In particular, over more than two years of full-scale warfare, 512 medical facilities have been fully restored in different regions of Ukraine, and another 357 have been partially restored. Most of them are in Mykolaiv, Dnipro, Kyiv, Kharkiv and Chernihiv regions.

Providing Ukrainians with quality and affordable healthcare services remains a priority for the Government. The Ministry of Health of Ukraine and its partners continue to work to restore Ukraine's medical infrastructure so that our doctors can work properly and patients have access to the necessary medical care.

To recap, the construction of one of the medical facilities destroyed by the russians in early 2022 is underway in Sumy region.
