During the full-scale war unleashed by russia, Ukraine managed to restore 885 medical facilities in full and partially. In particular, 530 medical facilities have been fully restored and another 355 have been partially restored.
The largest number of facilities have been restored in Mykolaiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Kyiv, Kharkiv and Chernihiv regions. These are primarily medical facilities in the de-occupied territories, as well as those that have suffered minor damage, such as broken windows, roofing, facade damage, etc.
The state continues to restore facilities and provide Ukrainians with necessary and high-quality medical services. With the support of its partners, the Ministry of Health continues to rebuild Ukraine’s medical infrastructure despite the war. Thus, doctors can work and patients have access to the necessary medical care. The reconstruction work will continue.
The russian army is bombarding and destroying Ukrainian hospitals, outpatient clinics, maternity clinics, etc. on a daily basis. Despite international norms and conventions, it bombs civilian infrastructure, including medical facilities, and terrorises civilians.
In the 28 months of the war, russian shells and missiles have damaged 1,646 medical facilities and destroyed another 215 beyond repair.
Most of the destroyed medical facilities are located in Kharkiv, Donetsk, Mykolaiv, Kyiv, Chernihiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Kherson and Zaporizhzhia regions. It is currently impossible to obtain complete information on the extent of damage to hospitals in the temporarily occupied territories.
The russians also damaged 198 ambulances, destroyed 261 and seized 125 ambulances.
