As a result of the russian federation’s full-scale armed aggression, Ukraine’s healthcare system remains significantly damaged.

As of May 1, 2026, according to information from the healthcare departments of regional and Kyiv City military administrations, damage to or destruction of 2,614 facilities comprising 836 healthcare institutions has been confirmed.

In particular, as a result of enemy actions, 331 facilities comprising 122 healthcare institutions have been completely destroyed.

Medical facilities in the Donetsk, Luhansk, Kharkiv, Zaporizhzhia, Mykolaiv, and Kherson regions have sustained the most damage.

Despite daily threats and a complex security situation, the restoration process continues. Specifically, 754 facilities have been fully restored to date, another 320 facilities are undergoing partial restoration, and 72 facilities that had previously been restored have sustained damage as a result of repeated enemy attacks.

At the same time, medical services continue even under difficult conditions. Currently, full medical care is being provided at 1,592 facilities, another 185 facilities are operating partially, and 237 healthcare facilities have been evacuated to other locations.

Data on facilities located in temporarily occupied territories remains limited due to the inability to confirm the extent of the damage. In addition, since the start of the full-scale invasion, 324 emergency medical vehicles have been destroyed, another 153 have been damaged, and 80 have been captured by the enemy.

The Ministry of Health of Ukraine, in cooperation with international partners, continues its systematic efforts to restore damaged healthcare facilities, ensuring patients’ access to quality medical care even under complex conditions.

As a reminder, the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, together with international partners, continues to prepare medical facilities for the upcoming fall-winter period.
