Ukraine continues work on restoring damaged medical infrastructure

As a result of russia’s full-scale armed aggression, Ukraine’s healthcare system continues to suffer significant destruction.

As of August 1, 2026, according to regional health departments and the Kyiv City Military Administration, 2,671 facilities belonging to 850 healthcare institutions have been confirmed damaged or destroyed.

In particular, 338 facilities within 126 healthcare institutions have been completely destroyed by enemy actions. The greatest damage has been recorded in Donetsk, Kharkiv, Kherson, Luhansk, Zaporizhzhia, and Mykolaiv regions.

Despite daily threats and the difficult security situation, the restoration process continues. So far, 752 facilities have been fully restored, 317 facilities are partially restored, while 85 facilities that had previously been repaired were damaged again due to repeated attacks.

Medical services continue even under challenging conditions: currently, care is being provided in full at 1,634 facilities, while 186 facilities operate partially, and 232 healthcare institutions have been relocated to other premises.

Data on facilities located in temporarily occupied territories remain limited due to the inability to confirm the scale of destruction.

Since the start of the full-scale invasion, 336 emergency medical vehicles have been destroyed, 224 damaged, and 80 captured by the enemy.

The Ministry of Health of Ukraine, in cooperation with international partners, continues systematic work to restore damaged healthcare institutions, ensuring patients’ access to quality medical care even under difficult conditions. Preparations of medical facilities for the upcoming autumn-winter period are also ongoing.
