Ministry of Economy, Environment and Agriculture discusses with JICA advancing livestock sector and development of vegetable storage facilities

Deputy Minister of Economy, Environment, and Agriculture of Ukraine Denys Bashlyk held discussions with representatives from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).

The participants focused on strategies to enhance the production of high-quality milk in Ukraine and develop agricultural infrastructure for storing vegetables and berries. Denys Bashlyk highlighted that both the livestock industry and vegetable storage systems had suffered significant setbacks due to the ongoing full-scale invasion.

“The Ministry of Economy, Environment, and Agriculture prioritizes the revival and growth of livestock farming, alongside the establishment of vegetable storage facilities. Building dairy farms and storage infrastructure is essential to improve the quality of dairy, vegetable, and berry production, boost competitiveness, and enhance the export potential of Ukrainian agricultural goods,” Denys Bashlyk stated.

He further noted that addressing these challenges would improve access to high-quality dairy products for Ukrainians and ensure better supply of milk, vegetables, and berries to school canteens.

Both sides agreed to coordinate their efforts, create a roadmap, and outline concrete steps to revitalize the livestock sector and develop infrastructure for vegetable storage.
