Municipal Recovery Centres to be opened in the ten regions most affected by the war

With the support of the USAID Governance and Local Accountability Activity (HOVERLA), the Municipal Recovery Centre project was launched in Ukraine as part of the initiative ‘Support to the Municipal Recovery Centre of the Association of Ukrainian Cities’.

The project's goal is to provide advisory and methodological support to territorial communities on recovery issues, in particular through the development of strategic recovery documents, preparation of local regulations, fundraising and facilitation of cooperation with partners, including international ones. In addition, training and exchange of practices for local government officials are planned as part of cooperation with the Centres.

"The decentralisation reform is, has been and will be one of the global priorities for the Ministry for Communities, Territories and Infrastructure Development. On the path of our European integration, we have to do a lot of work to make the decentralisation process a driver of efficiency and success of hromadas. Our task is to create the conditions for their balanced development and ensure the restoration and improvement of infrastructure,’ said Vasyl Shkurakov, First Deputy Minister for Communities, Territories and Infrastructure Development of Ukraine, at a meeting with representatives of USAID and the Association of Ukrainian Cities.

The Municipal Recovery Centre will operate throughout Ukraine with a focus on the following 10 regions: Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhzhia, Kyiv, Mykolaiv, Odesa, Poltava, Sumy, Kharkiv, Kherson, and Chernihiv.
