On March 31, 2021, the Cabinet of Ministers approved the draft resolution "On Termination of the Agreement between the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine and the Government of the Russian Federation on Cooperation in the Field of Tourism" developed by the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy.
The document is designed to terminate the validity of the Agreement signed in 1999, as due to Russia's armed aggression, actual cooperation in the tourism industry has been suspended, and there are no prospects for such cooperation in the future.
The adoption of this resolution by the Government was the final stage in the implementation of domestic procedures necessary for the termination of the Agreement.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine must notify the Government of the Russian Federation in accordance with the established procedure.
"Termination of this Agreement in the field of tourism is a logical long-awaited step, given the Russian aggression. It is also an occasion to focus even more on domestic Ukrainian tourism. We have what to focus on and show guests of our country," said Minister of Culture and Information Policy Oleksandr Tkachenko.
