Pursuant to the order of President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the Government has developed a mechanism for compensation for damaged and destroyed houses as a result of the russian terrorist attack on the Kakhovka HPP. This was announced by Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal.

The Government allocated more than UAH 980 million from the Fund for the Elimination of the Consequences of Armed Aggression at an offsite meeting in Kherson region on June 16.

"The compensation mechanism will be similar to the eVidnovlennia programme. But, given the situation in the region, applications will be submitted through local governments. A person will choose one of two options. Either to buy another housing or to take money to repair or rebuild their own house," said Denys Shmyhal.

The Cabinet of Ministers has also allocated UAH 560 million to pay one-time state aid to flood victims in the amount of UAH 5,000 per person. The Ministry of Social Policy, the Ministry for Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories and the Ministry of Economy have been instructed to draft a decision on the procedure for using these funds as soon as possible.

"At the same time, we are holding talks with international humanitarian organisations on the implementation of similar payments for each affected person," the Prime Minister noted.

According to the Head of Government, at the last conference call on the liquidation of the consequences of the terrorist attack on the Kakhovka Hydroelectric Power Plant, it was instructed to promptly create a register of affected communities. According to him, this will be the starting point for the payment of assistance to people.

The Prime Minister said that 10 regions of Ukraine would send 15 specialists each to the disaster area to conduct technical inspections of the affected housing. He urged communities not to delay the formation of the relevant commissions.
