Government adopts package of decisions to support agricultural producers, on whom the country's food security depends amidst full-scale war
The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has adopted a series of decisions to support agricultural producers, on whom the country's food security depends in the context of full-scale war. This was announced by Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Svyrydenko.
The Government is introducing a new line of grant support for agricultural producers. From now on, entrepreneurs will be eligible to receive grants for the construction of vegetable and fruit storage facilities.
"The state will cover up to 30% of the construction cost, but not more than UAH 20 million, subject to co-financing by the recipient. Support will be provided for the construction of new storage facilities with a capacity of 3,000 tonnes or more, provided that jobs are created," the Head of Government said.
Preferential terms will apply to frontline regions. The state will be capable of covering up to 50% of the construction costs if the enterprise is located in areas of active or potential combat operations and owns 80% of the land plots in the temporarily occupied territories.
In addition, the Government is improving the mechanism for compensating for damaged crops in frontline territories.
Yulia Svyrydenko said that farmers who operated in areas of potential and active hostilities and had suffered losses due to the war or difficult weather conditions would be eligible for state support. Farmers will be allowed to receive compensation of up to UAH 4,700 per hectare of damaged crops, but no more than 2,000 hectares per farm. Targeted support shall help farmers maintain production and continue working in difficult conditions.
“Both decisions are an investment in the country's food security. They will enable farmers to better plan production and promote economic activity in communities, particularly near the front line,” the Prime Minister emphasized.
