Government approves signing of additional agreements with the EU within technical cooperation Programs
On September 22, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine approved the signing of two additional agreements between Ukraine and the European Commission within the framework of technical cooperation programs. Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration Taras Kachka was authorized to sign the aforesaid documents on behalf of the Government of Ukraine.
The first agreement is an Additional Agreement to the Financing Agreement for the 2018 Technical Cooperation Program, which extends its implementation and completion phases until July 2026 and 2028, respectively. This will enable the finalizing of projects aimed at implementing the Ukraine-EU Association Agreement and supporting Ukrainian institutions in strengthening democratic principles, human rights, and fundamental freedoms.
The second agreement is an Additional Agreement to the Financing Agreement for the 2025 Technical Cooperation Program for Ukraine. This document provides for an increase in the European Union’s financial contribution by EUR 233.7 million, bringing the total value of the Agreement to nearly EUR 388 million.
Within this program, EU technical assistance will enhance the institutional and administrative capacity of Ukrainian state authorities in implementing reforms and coordinating recovery efforts, particularly in restoring energy infrastructure damaged due to russia’s military aggression. Additionally, the Agreement will strengthen the capacity of Ukrainian businesses to contribute to economic recovery and integration with the EU, while also enhancing the role of civil society and media in advancing reforms, promoting human rights, gender equality, cultural diversity, and social cohesion.
“The signing of these additional agreements is further proof that Ukraine is moving forward on the path of reforms and recovery together with the European Union,” commented Deputy Prime Minister Taras Kachka.
