Mechanisms for the confiscation of frozen russian assets were discussed at a meeting chaired by Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration and Minister of Justice Olha Stefanishyna, Minister of Finance Sergii Marchenko, Governor of the National Bank Andriy Pyshnyy, Deputy Head of the Presidential Office Iryna Mudra, diplomats and others.
“russia must pay for the destruction in Ukraine,” the Head of Government noted, adding that foreign partners had already started transferring funds to Ukraine secured by the proceeds of frozen russian assets.
In particular, according to Denys Shmyhal, Ukraine will receive USD 50 billion under the G7 initiative, and the first tranches have already been transferred to the state budget in December last year.
“At the same time, we insist that all sovereign russian assets frozen in the West should be confiscated and transferred to Ukraine,” the Prime Minister stressed.
The meeting discussed the results of the work done on this issue and the plan of cooperation with partners for the current year.
“Our goal is to make russia compensate for all the damage caused to Ukraine. We are consistently working in this direction,” said Denys Shmyhal.
