Liquidation and stabilisation measures will be carried out in Kherson’s Ostriv neighbourhood within a week. This was announced on Tuesday by Minister of Internal Affairs Ihor Klymenko, who is in charge of the liquidation of the consequences of the hydroelectric power plant blast, at a meeting of the Headquarters.
“In the near future, bomb squads will inspect the streets of the neighbourhood where the water has already drained. After that, the utility companies will begin work to remove debris, cut down trees and remove fallen structures.
On Tuesday morning, 13 June, the water level in the Ostriv neighbourhood of Kherson reached 2.91 metres and will continue to recede over the next few days. There have been no reports of infectious disease outbreaks in the affected areas. In the community of Novovorontsovka, power engineers connected a well to the power supply this morning, which will provide residents with water.
The Minister of Internal Affairs has instructed officials of the regional military administrations to make working visits to the affected communities in the coming days to document the existing problems with drinking water, electricity, gas supply, and the epidemiological situation, and to organise local response efforts.
