From the beginning of the fall Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Digital Transformation Mykhailo Fedorov held a series of meetings with representatives of Ukrainian and international cloud solutions. The goal of the meetings is to shortly implement cloud solutions in Ukraine and to create a state-owned CloudFirst strategy.

"We need to encourage government bodies  authorities to gradually switch to cloud solutions. Less equipment - more innovative and cloud-based technology. Therefore, we decided to audit procurement of equipment for this year and further planned purchases to develop a transition strategy. To understand how much real money the country can save through cloud-based solutions and how much money is used inefficiently", Mykhailo Fedorov stressed.

According to him, cloud solutions will contribute to the effective development of digital technologies in Ukraine, as they provide more opportunities for decision-making and a higher level of security. It is also a real tool for combating corruption.

In accordance with information provided by  business representatives, in 2018 the market of cloud solutions was  to the tune of $ 33.4 million, of which the market share of Ukrainian operators was only $ 10 million. At the same time, market players paid $ 3.5 million in taxes to the state budget, among them Ukrainian operators - $ 3 million.

"We need to create proper conditions for fruitful  business development in the field of cloud solutions. According to available estimates, the real growth of the market is almost tenfold - up to over $ 300 million in five years", Mykhailo Fedorov underlined.

During this stage a strategy for the transition to cloud technologies was initiated. The next steps will be the creation of  expert working group and  appointment of a person responsible for strategy implementation. And also - work on improving the relevant legislation.
