The Parliament supported the relevant law No. 0196 with 246 votes. This will allow Ukraine to get funding and implement joint projects with the EU in the framework of the EU Strategy for the Danube Region, as well as to develop communities in the region. This was announced by Vice Prime Minister/ Minister of Regional Development, Construction, Housing and Communal Services of Ukraine Hennadii Zubko.

"Within the framework of the program the EU grants Ukraine EUR 5 million free of charge for projects to be selected on a competitive basis in line with the program rules. There are 4 project areas envisaged by the program: Innovation and Social Responsibility, Environment and Cultural Responsibility, Improvement of Infrastructure and Energy Efficiency, and Effective Governance in the Danube Region. Implementation of the projects is aimed to strengthen inter-regional and cross-border cooperation and partnership in the areas of transport infrastructure development, energy, entrepreneurship, communication networks, culture, education, tourism, health care, etc." said Hennadii Zubko.

It should be noted that the Agreement on financing the Danube Transnational Program was signed by Ukraine in December 2017. The program is one of the EU's financial instruments designed to ensure the implementation of the EU Strategy for the Danube Region, which opens for the Ukrainian partners an opportunity to obtain funding and implement joint projects with partners from European countries of the Danube Region.
