Ukrainian delegation represents country at the 75th Session of EPPO Council

This week, a Ukrainian delegation led by Serhii Tkachenko, Head of the State Service of Ukraine on Food Safety and Consumer Protection, is participating in the 75th session of the Council of the European and Mediterranean Plant Protection Organization (EPPO). The event brings together member countries to discuss shared challenges in plant quarantine and protection. 

"This week, together with the State Service team, I am representing Ukraine at the meetings of the EPPO Council. The work of the State Service in international organizations is a contribution to the development of Ukraine’s agricultural sector on the global arena," emphasized Serhii Tkachenko. 

Key topics of the 75th session include the EPPO strategy for 2026–2030, the organization’s annual activity report, the 2026 budget, information exchange on the spread of dangerous pests, modern methods of pest control, and bilateral negotiations with member countries. 

Participation in the session allows Ukraine to engage in international professional dialogue, share knowledge and experience, present its domestic developments, and gain valuable insights from partners. Key issues include safe plant protection methods, improving international standards, and joint planning of the organization’s activities. 

Background Information

The European and Mediterranean Plant Protection Organization (EPPO) is an intergovernmental organization responsible for international cooperation in plant quarantine and protection in the European and Mediterranean region. 

Ukraine has been a member of EPPO since 1994. Since joining, Ukraine has actively participated in the organization’s work. The country’s international activities in plant quarantine focus on gradually harmonizing Ukrainian phytosanitary legislation with international standards, exchanging information, and coordinating efforts.
