Ukraine to take part in Biennale Architettura 2023, the world’s largest architecture exhibition
Ukraine will take part in Biennale Architettura 2023, the largest architecture exhibition in the world.
The decision was made by the Ministry for Communities, Territories and Infrastructure Development of Ukraine.
Ukraine is returning to the exhibition after almost 10 years of absence – the last time Ukraine was represented at Biennale Architettura was in 2014.
“The reconstruction of Ukraine is not only about the post-war restoration of what was destroyed, but also about new possibilities for architectural solutions and a general rethinking of the image of a modern Ukrainian city or village. The Biennale Architettura is a platform where we can showcase our architectural potential and our vision for both Ukraine and the whole world.
We invite Ukrainian architects to take part in the Biennale. Indeed, despite the war, modern Ukrainian architectural thought is moving in line with the global context and has something to offer the international community,” commented Oleksandr Kubrakov, Deputy Prime Minister for Restoration of Ukraine and Minister for Communities, Territories and Infrastructure Development.
It is expected that the Ukrainian project Before the Future will be presented at the exhibition.
Mariana Oleskiv, Head of the State Agency for Tourism Development of Ukraine, will be the commissioner of the Ukrainian pavilion at the exhibition.
The exhibition will open in Venice on May 20 and run until November 26.
Architects interested in participating in the public programme of the Ukrainian pavilion can already send their proposals to dart@tourism.gov.ua.
For reference
Biennale Architettura is an international architecture exhibition held every 2 years in Venice. As part of the exhibition, participating countries have the opportunity to set up their own pavilions and present their architectural vision.
The main aim of the exhibition is to showcase architectural solutions that would provide answers to modern social, technological and cultural challenges.
