  • Sergii Marchenko met with U.S. Treasury Department’s Under Secretary for International Affairs Jay Shambaugh

    During the Spring Meetings of the IMF and the World Bank, Minister of Finance of Ukraine Sergii Marchenko met with U.S. Treasury Department’s Under Secretary for International Affairs Jay Shambaugh.

    The meeting was also attended by Deputy Minister of Finance Olga Zykova, Government Commissioner for Public Debt Management Yuriy Butsa, Deputy Minister of Finance for European Integration Yuriy Draganchuk and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to the United States Oksana Markarova.

    The parties discussed the state of Ukraine’s economy, cooperation with international partners to finance rapid recovery, and the need to increase sanctions pressure on the aggressor country.

    Sergii Marchenko thanked the U.S. Treasury for its unprecedented assistance in maintaining overall stability in the country:

    “The Government of Ukraine continues to operate fully, ensuring all priority expenditures of the State Budget, in particular, due to the exceptional assistance of our partners from the United States. We are especially grateful for the rhythmic and predictable provision of funds this year, which allows us to ensure timely implementation of the budget,” said Sergii Marchenko.

    The United States is the largest donor of financial assistance for Ukraine. The amount of direct budget support has reached USD 15.5 billion since the start of the full-scale war.

    The Minister of Finance of Ukraine emphasized that the transparency and efficiency of the use of funds from international partners was an absolute priority of the Government of Ukraine.

    The Under Secretary assured the Ukrainian delegation of unwavering support. He emphasized that the United States would continue to be a reliable partner in implementing the necessary measures to strengthen Ukraine’s competitiveness and resilience.
