The Deputy Prime Minister for Restoration of Ukraine – Minister for Communities and Territories Development of Ukraine Oleksii Kuleba is on a working visit to Romania as part of a government delegation headed by the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

During the meeting between the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy and the President of Romania Nicușor Dan, the sides discussed the development of border infrastructure and the implementation of joint transport projects between Ukraine and Romania.

Among the key priorities is the opening of a new border crossing point “Bila Tserkva – Sighetu Marmației”. It is planned that the checkpoint will start operating for passenger vehicles already in the summer of 2026. After the implementation of the first phase, its capacity will reach up to 700 vehicles per day.

Particular attention was paid to the reconstruction of the «Porubne – Siret» border crossing point. The implementation of this project will increase the capacity of the Ukrainian-Romanian border by 300 trucks daily.

The sides also discussed a prospective infrastructure project – the construction of a bridge across the Danube between Orlivka and Isaccea. The new bridge could become an important transport corridor between Ukraine and the European Union and strengthen the logistics capacity of the region.

The sides also considered the expansion of the network of border crossing points, the introduction of joint customs and border control, as well as the development of new transport routes, including railway connections.

The implementation of these projects will reduce the time required to cross the border, increase the capacity of the Ukrainian-Romanian border and strengthen economic cooperation between Ukraine and Romania.
