The Government of Ukraine and the International Energy Agency have signed a Joint Work Program for the period of 2025-2026.

The document was inked by the Minister of Energy of Ukraine German Galushchenko and the Executive Director of the International Energy Agency (IEA) Fatih Birol during a meeting in London.

"Cooperation with the International Energy Agency is crucial for Ukraine. We highly appreciate the professional support and recommendations of the IEA experts, who help to restore and reform the Ukrainian energy sector in accordance with the principles of energy transition and green transformation. The new cooperation Work Program will allow us to deepen this cooperation," said German Galushchenko.

The joint Work Program envisages the IEA's support to Ukraine in achieving the goals of strengthening energy security, post-war recovery and reconstruction, while investing in the transition to green energy and a sustainable energy future.

In particular, cooperation is envisaged in the areas of support for the implementation of strategic documents of the energy sector of Ukraine - the implementation of the Energy Strategy of Ukraine until 2050 and the Energy and Climate Plan until 2030, as well as updating national plans and commitments under the Paris Agreement.

The parties will also cooperate in the areas of energy efficiency and alternative energy development; infrastructure rehabilitation and reconstruction; energy sector reform; development of biomethane, hydrogen, offshore energy and small-scale generation markets; support for the introduction of renewable energy sources.

The IEA is expected to provide expert and analytical support, organize training, exchange of experience and facilitate Ukraine's participation in the activities of the agency's working bodies.

As a reminder, Ukraine joined the International Energy Agency in July 2022, becoming the 11th associate member country.
