Iryna Vereshchuk, Deputy Prime Minister - Minister for Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories of Ukraine, chaired a meeting of the Coordination Headquarters for Ensuring the Rights and Freedoms of Internally Displaced Persons.
The event was attended by representatives of the Ministry for Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories, the Ministry of Social Policy, the Ministry for Communities, Territories and Infrastructure Development, the Ministry of Justice, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the National Social Service, regional military administrations (RMAs), other agencies and organizations, as well as Melitopol city head Ivan Fedorov.
Among other things, the participants discussed the process of establishing IDP councils within local authorities. Such councils will help implement the regional policy on internally displaced persons. In particular, their adaptation and integration into host communities.
Currently, IDP councils have already been established under Chernihiv, Kyiv, Zhytomyr, Poltava, Kirovohrad, Kharkiv, Donetsk, Sumy, Mykolaiv, Zakarpattia, Volyn regional military administrations and the Kyiv City Military Administration.
The Coordination Staff also discussed the issue of payment of housing allowances to IDPs. In particular, in August, UAH 5.9 billion was allocated for such payments.
