Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine, posted 18 December 2024 15:48

The World Economic Forum has opened the Global Government Technology Centre (GGTC Kyiv) to promote GovTech practices around the world. The GGTC Kyiv will become the second GovTech centre in the world after Berlin and the 21st Centre for the Fourth Industrial Revolution (C4IR) in the World Economic Forum network.

“In 2019, we started building a digital state with the main idea of creating the most convenient country for citizens. The launch of the Diia app has radically changed the way people interact with the state. Diia has already become a lovemark brand for Ukrainians and is recognised as one of the world’s best practices in GovTech. It is no coincidence that Ukraine became the second country in the world to launch the Global Government Technology Centre (GGTC). I am proud that our progress is recognised internationally and I am confident that GGTC Kyiv will become a centre of cooperation, innovation and transformational solutions in the field of digital governance,” said Mykhailo Fedorov, Deputy Prime Minister for Innovation, Education, Science and Technology Development and Minister of Digital Transformation of Ukraine.

GGTC Kyiv will become a platform for cooperation between governments, businesses, scientists, technology companies and startups. The centre will facilitate the implementation of innovative solutions, exchange of best GovTech practices and implementation of joint projects. Through cooperation with international partners, Ukrainian startups will be able to share experiences and accelerate digital reforms in the public sector around the world.

According to World Economic Forum Managing Director Mirek Dušek, the Centre in Ukraine will support WEF’s global efforts to unlock the enormous potential of digital technologies to improve public services and create new opportunities. It will serve as a catalyst for public-private collaboration, fostering digital technology and innovation at a critical time for Ukraine and Europe.

In partnership with the Centre for the Fourth Industrial Revolution and GGTC Berlin, GGTC Kyiv will create a platform for communication and experience exchange to develop GovTech solutions around the world. By applying AI, IoT and blockchain technologies and focusing on cybersecurity, the centre will foster the development of an innovative ecosystem with local and global impact.

According to Félix Baumann, Ambassador of Switzerland to Ukraine and the Republic of Moldova, it is an honour for Switzerland to be close to Ukraine, which is shaping the future of global GovTech. He emphasized the importance of developing digitalization and sharing experiences and lessons learned in this area. He also mentioned that, with the support of the EGAP Programme, Switzerland was pleased to contribute to the creation of GGTC Kyiv.

The main directions of GGTC Kyiv:

    • GovTech Observatory is a platform for tracking global and national trends in the GovTech sector. Through cutting-edge research, user-friendly tools, and partnerships with global experts, the Observatory will become a place for knowledge sharing and data-driven policy development.
    • Innovation Gateway is a platform for finding partners, piloting and scaling technologies in Ukraine with the involvement of global investments. Bringing together key centres in AI, EdTech, Defence Tech, Semiconductors, BioTech, Green Tech, AUV and other fields, GGTC Kyiv will demonstrate Ukraine’s innovation potential.
    • FutureGov Education is a training platform for public sector leaders to adapt the latest technologies such as digital twins and artificial intelligence. In partnership with CDTO Campus, the centre will create a space for experimentation where leaders from around the world can test and implement promising digital solutions.

“GGTC Kyiv is a global platform for collaboration and innovation, where we will share Ukraine’s successes in digital transformation and collaborate with partners around the world to achieve effective change. By bringing together digital leaders, fostering cutting-edge research and developing transformational technologies, we aim to strengthen networks and improve public services,” said Valeria Ionan, Deputy Minister of Digital Transformation for European Integration.
