Iryna Vereshchuk, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories of Ukraine, chaired a meeting on veterans’ policy.
The meeting was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories, the Ministry for Veterans Affairs, the Ministry of Social Policy, the Ministry of Finance, regional military administrations and Ukrzaliznytsia.
In accordance with the Cabinet of Ministers’ Resolution No. 652 “On the implementation of a pilot project to introduce the institution of a veteran’s assistant in the system of transition from military service to civilian life,” the second stage of applications for the selection of veteran’s assistants has started.
The future assistants will be sent for training and further employment in one of the territorial communities of Vinnytsia, Dnipropetrovsk, Lviv or Mykolaiv regions.
Applications can be submitted through the e-Veteran platform. The second stage of the selection process will last until 21 July.
The meeting also discussed the mechanism for interviewing candidates. The special commissions include representatives of the Ministry for Veterans Affairs, local governments, regional military administrations, NGOs, and psychologists.
The regional military administrations and the Ministry for Veterans Affairs were instructed to develop a transparent algorithm for the selection of participants.
They also stressed the need for proper communication between future veterans’ assistants and NGOs that already have experience of working with veterans.
