  • Situation in energy system as of 3 May
Ministry of Energy of Ukraine, posted 03 May 2024 10:54

In Kyiv, more than 13,000 customers lost power due to technical disruptions; the needs of consumers were covered by domestic generation, commercial imports and emergency assistance during peak hours

    POWER GENERATION, TRANSMISSION, CONSUMPTION

Over the past day, electricity consumption increased by 2.5% compared to the previous day.

Consumers’ needs were covered by domestic generation, commercial imports, and emergency assistance from Romania, Poland and Slovakia in the evening peak hours, totalling about 0.25% of daily electricity consumption.

Due to network constraints on the transmission system operator’s lines, blackout schedules were applied yesterday in Kharkiv region and for industry in Kryvyi Rih. Restrictions in these regions are still in effect today. In other regions, consumers were not restricted yesterday.

In the southern regions, to prevent overloading of equipment at one of the high-voltage substations, the transmission system operator limited the production of electricity from renewable sources from 11:15 to 16:00.

    LET’S CONSUME RESPONSIBLY!

Given the significant damage caused to the power system, we ask consumers to reduce the use of energy-intensive appliances during peak hours (from 19:00 to 22:00). We also ask the industry to review its production processes to reduce the load on the power system and to use imports as much as possible to avoid outages and strengthen the resilience of the power system.

    STATE OF THE GRID

In Kyiv, 49 residential buildings and 99 institutions in Sviatoshynskyi and Solomianskyi districts – a total of 13,400 customers – lost power due to a breakdown in equipment at a substation. All customers were reconnected within two hours.

In Odesa region, equipment was disconnected at one of the regional power company’s substations, and household consumers lost power. In the morning, all consumers were reconnected.

In Dnipropetrovsk region, an overhead line was disconnected at night, resulting in a power outage for industrial consumers. Within an hour, all consumers were reconnected.

    SITUATION AT ZNPP

The water level in the cooling pond is 15.40 metres. This is sufficient to meet the plant’s needs.

    IMPORT/EXPORT

For the current day, electricity imports are forecasted at 2,800 MWh.
