  • Situation in energy system on 19 July: new power cuts in Chernihiv and Kharkiv regions due to shelling; restrictions on consumers in place throughout the day
Ministry of Energy of Ukraine, posted 19 July 2024 10:29

    GENERATION, TRANSMISSION, CONSUMPTION

The situation in the energy sector remains difficult. There is a significant shortage of generating capacity in the system due to massive hostile attacks since spring this year, and shelling continues, especially in the frontline areas. Substations and power transmission lines often come under fire.

Over the past 24 hours, Ukraine has additionally engaged emergency assistance from Poland to partially cover the deficit. To prevent overloading of the power system, emergency shutdown schedules were applied in Dnipropetrovsk region.

As of today, the hourly outage schedules are planned to be in effect from 0:00 to 24:00. For information on changes in the schedules, please visit the official websites of the regional power distribution companies in your region.

There will be no outages for critical infrastructure companies and companies that import more than 80% of electricity for their needs in accordance with the government decree.

The main reason for the electricity supply restrictions is the enemy’s attacks on the energy infrastructure and the negative consequences of these attacks. 9 GW of generating capacity has been lost.

    CONSEQUENCES OF SHELLING

In Chernihiv region, household consumers lost power due to enemy shelling of overhead lines. A total of 2,193 consumers were cut off at once.

In Kharkiv region, a high-voltage overhead line was disconnected as a result of hostilities, which led to the de-energisation of several substations and the household consumers connected to them. Consumers were partially reconnected.

    STATE OF THE GRID

In the western region, a high-voltage overhead line was disconnected due to technological disruptions. Several substations in Khmelnytskyi region and the household consumers connected to them lost power. All consumers have been supplied with electricity.

Yesterday, a high-voltage overhead line connecting the power systems of Ukraine and Moldova was briefly disconnected. The line is now back online.

In Khmelnytskyi region, a high-voltage overhead line was disconnected, which led to the de-energisation of several substations in Khmelnytskyi and Chernivtsi regions and the household consumers connected to them. All of them have been reconnected.

In Kyiv and Chernihiv regions, high-voltage overhead lines were disconnected after the passage of a thunderstorm, which resulted in power outages at substations, households and businesses. All consumers have been reconnected.

    POWER OUTAGES FOR CONSUMERS

Due to severe weather conditions, 150 settlements in Chernihiv, Sumy, Kyiv, Odesa and Mykolaiv regions lost power.

Power engineers supplied power to 9,478 consumers who were cut off as a result of hostilities.

In total, 530 settlements remain without power due to hostilities and technical failures.

    SITUATION AT ZNPP

The water level in the cooling pond is 14.91 metres. This is enough to meet the needs of the plant.

    IMPORT/EXPORT

During the day, imports from Romania, Slovakia, Poland, and Hungary with a maximum capacity of 1,298 MW are planned.

No exports are planned and are not expected.
