Sergii Koretskyi discusses financial support for Ukraine with Mateusz Szczurek, Director of the IMF's European Department
At the start of the IMF and World Bank Annual Meetings week, Prime Minister of Ukraine Sergii Koretskyi discussed the 2026 budget execution and Ukraine's 2027 budget needs with Mateusz Szczurek, Director of the IMF's European Department.
Particular attention was paid to Russia's intensified attacks on Ukrainian business, which threaten tax revenues. Other risks to the economy were also discussed.
"We are working to secure the external financing we need. We are counting on support from the EU, bilateral assistance from non-EU countries and World Bank support programmes. We will look for solutions together," said the Head of Government.
The Prime Minister stressed that the Government is working with the Verkhovna Rada to pass, this plenary week, the bills that are critical for delivering on the IMF programme and for the timely release of EU funding.
"I thanked the IMF for its consistent support of Ukraine, its key role in coordinating international partners and its help in safeguarding our country's financial stability. We look forward to the Fund's mission in November," said Sergii Koretskyi.
