The Government has approved a resolution stipulating for the reorganization of state-owned enterprises through their transformation into state-owned commercial enterprises.
The corresponding decision was endorsed on the initiative of the Ministry of Social Policy on February 19, 2020, and will improve the quality of provision of technical means of rehabilitation (prosthetics, orthoses, etc.) to people with disabilities.
According to the Minister of Social Policy Yulia Sokolovska, it is planned to reorganize eight enterprises related to the sphere of management of the Ministry of Social Policy, and which produce technical and other means of rehabilitation of persons with disabilities.
"The resolution is aimed to help businesses to set up competitive production in a market that is home to about 90 companies. This, in turn, will make the rehabilitation facilities better, taking into account the individual needs of people with disabilities, including children. In addition, as these companies provide rehabilitation services, market conditions will also improve the quality of services, not just the technical means of rehabilitation. That is an opportunity for our enterprises to increase their own efficiency and compete in the market, not to actually abstain from it", Yulia Sokolovska underscored.
The Minister of Social Policy stressed that improving the quality of functioning of enterprises will contribute to the development in the regions social services focused on meeting the needs of people with disabilities, and carrying out the necessary rehabilitation measures.
It should be noted that the Government in 2019, for the first time in many years, provided the persons with disabilities with means of rehabilitation to the fullest extent.
