Winter and spring support programmes reached 60% of Ukrainians, says Yulia Svyrydenko
During the winter and spring period, state social support programmes benefited almost 60% of Ukraine’s citizens. This was announced by the Prime Minister of Ukraine, Yulia Svyrydenko.
The Head of Government emphasised that direct support programmes for Ukrainians had proven their effectiveness. Amid a full-scale war, state resources remain limited and are directed primarily towards defence needs. At the same time, the Government continues to take decisions in the field of social protection to support citizens in the face of complex social and economic challenges. The scale of participation in these programmes confirms their necessity.
In particular, 17.8 million Ukrainians received a payment of UAH 1,000 as part of the winter support scheme. A further 415,000 citizens from the most vulnerable groups received UAH 6,500 in aid.
Separately, over 100,000 people with disabilities and single pensioners benefited from support under the ‘warmth packages’ programme.
The Prime Minister also noted that the state is supporting workers who restored critical infrastructure following russian attacks. This includes energy workers, utility workers, gas sector employees and railway workers. In total, approximately 27,000 workers received additional payments of UAH 20,000 during the most difficult months of the recent heating season.
In addition, this spring, nearly 12 million Ukrainians from vulnerable groups received a one-off payment of UAH 1,500.
“Such targeted social support programmes are important for people and really do help Ukrainians. The Ukrainian Government will continue to fulfil the state’s social obligations and support millions of citizens through the approved programmes,” emphasised Yulia Svyrydenko.
