On September 29, with the participation of the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy, a ceremony honoring the memory of the victims of the Babyn Yar tragedy took place on the territory of the Babyn Yar National Historical Memorial Preserve in Kyiv.

The event was also attended by Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal, Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada Dmytro Razumkov, Head of the Office of the President Andrii Yermak and other top officials.

To honor the victims of the tragedy, the participants laid flowers at the monument to "Citizens and prisoners of war shot by the Nazis at Babyn Yar" and lit symbolic candles near the monument "Menorah".

"79 years ago, one of the most atrocious tragedies in human history took place in Kyiv. During several days of September 1941, the Nazis killed more than 30,000 Jews living in Kyiv in Babyn Yar. Throughout 2 years of occupation, more than 100,000 people of different nationalities had been massacred in this ravine. We cherish the memory of those who were killed in Babyn Yar", said the Prime Minister.
