  • Volodymyr Groysman: We managed to drastically retrofit public administration system

    The Government in the framework of implementation of a number of fundamental reforms managed to introduce and systematically retrofit  the public administration sector from strengthening local self-government to effective management of state-owned companies. This was stated by the Prime Minister of Ukraine on the air of "Echo of Ukraine" program of "Pryamiy" (Direct) TV channel. The program is devoted to the Government's report for 2018, and members of the Cabinet of Ministers also participated in the program.

    "What is effective governance? This term encapsulates  decentralization,  updating the civil service, and the management of state-owned companies. Systemic approach in the views and actions - and we succeeded to do it ", Volodymyr Groysman stated.

    The Prime Minister’s statement was supported by Minister of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine Olexandr Saienko, one of the leaders in the reform of the civil service. "Today, people join the civil service not due to special preferences, but  because of the principle of efficiency and professionalism," the Minister said. "The public administration reform is a standard of European governance. And 2018 was a successful year for this reform."

    During the program, the Head of Government drew attention to the fact that the restart of the civil service allowed to accelerate economic reforms.

    "We laid the foundation. However, we have still to do more to ensure decent pensions and wages  that would be impetus for Ukrainians  not to leave the country. But the foundation is built, - The average salary in December was UAH 10.500. Pver a period of two years the minimum wage increased from $ 50 to $ 150", the Head of Government said.

    The Prime Minister emphasized that positive trends will be continued in 2019.
