Nowadays Ukraine sees an increase in the number of patients with COVID-19 at the level of 12,000 new cases per 24 hours, and the medical system is capable of coping with such a load. Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal announced on the air of the program "Svoboda Slova" (Freedom of Speech) program on November 16. However, the Head of Government emphasized, the number of doctors is limited and the physical capabilities of doctors are also limited.

"We are constantly working to increase the number of beds and supply them with oxygen systems. But there may come a time when doctors will face a difficult choice: whose life to save. And because of that, we ought to take steps now that will help us stop the increase in morbidity," said Denys Shmyhal.

The weekend quarantine, according to the Prime Minister, is the step to suspend the mobility of the population and the broad social contacts that take place most over the weekend in those locations that the restrictions has affected.

"Mobility rate has decreased this weekend. By 19% on Saturday and 27% on Sunday. These are important indicators that, according to research by international scientific institutions, can reduce the spread of the disease by up to three times," the Prime Minister stressed.

The Prime Minister noted that the Government has ready tools to support business. And soon there will be a meeting with representatives of all industries that have been negatively affected by the weekend quarantine.

Denys Shmyhal also stressed that people who are treated on an outpatient basis have every right to require the necessary set of drugs and treatment, and doctors are obliged to provide them. According to him, there has been allocated sufficient funding for that.

"All packages of the National Health Service of Ukraine were transferred in May-June, and local and municipal hospitals are allocated sufficient resources. Questions are to be asked to the chief doctors: how the salary is paid, how the medicines are bought. Here one needs to look at the situation in each particular hospital. These issues are under the control of the health departments of the regional state administration and the control of local heads. The state allocates all the funds needed for treatment and purchase of medicines," the Head of Government highlighted.
