The new academic year marks the first time schools across Ukraine – from Zakarpattia to Donetsk, from Sumy to Kherson – have adopted the Mriia educational ecosystem. One in six Ukrainian schools has already joined the ecosystem. Mriia is a web portal and app for teachers, school administrations, students, and their parents, developed by the Ministry of Digital Transformation and the Ministry of Education and Science at the initiative of President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy. For teachers, Mriia saves dozens of hours of routine work; for students, it helps unlock their potential; and for parents, it fosters greater involvement in their children’s lives and development.

“Today, Mriia connects over one million participants in the educational process across Ukraine – and this is just the beginning. This year, we’re launching an extracurricular activities catalogue, and from 2026, we’ll pilot preschool integration and develop a framework for higher education institutions. For the first time, a single digital ecosystem will unite multiple levels of education. Mriia will support Ukrainians from kindergarten to higher education and adult learning, shifting from the outdated ‘get a diploma’ mindset to a culture of lifelong learning,” said Mykhailo Fedorov, First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Digital Transformation.

Through the Mriia web portal, school administrations and teachers can carry out their usual tasks in a unified digital environment that automates processes and frees up time for what matters most – working with students. This comprehensive solution is equally accessible and beneficial for every school, regardless of size, experience with digital tools, or teaching format. The goal is to ensure digital tools simplify teachers’ work, not complicate it.

“Our priority, alongside our colleagues at the Ministry of Digital Transformation, is to ensure digital tools support teachers rather than burden them. Mriia replaces paper registers and diaries, reduces routine tasks, and makes the educational process more transparent and convenient for all involved. This is another step towards modern education, where the child and their development are at the heart,” said Oksen Lisovyi, Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine.

The app expands access to quality education: students already have access to engaging content from leading educational platforms, recommended by artificial intelligence based on their interests. In the future, AI will help create personalised learning pathways to support every student in realising their potential.

“The over 2,000 schools that have joined Mriia are not just a number – it’s a sign that Ukrainian schools are ready to evolve despite significant challenges. We’re proud to be part of this transformation and will continue doing everything to ensure students, teachers, and parents experience tangible changes that make education more modern, convenient, and accessible,” said Viktor Liakh, President of the East Europe Foundation.

Mriia also collaborates with socially responsible businesses. This academic year, the app will feature a rewards shop where students can earn cinema tickets, VR quests, access to masterclasses and courses, vouchers, books, stationery, and more for positive academic achievements.

How to join Mriia?

Any school, regardless of size, teaching format, location, or use of other educational systems, can join Mriia. Local authorities can introduce Mriia to all schools in their community or region. The platform is always free and voluntary, and each educational institution can decide to join by submitting an application at: https://mriia.gov.ua/en/app.

The Mriia pilot began in September 2024, and in April 2025, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that the web portal and app were available to all interested schools.

Mriia is an initiative of President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, implemented by the Ministry of Digital Transformation and the Ministry of Education and Science, in partnership with the EGAP Programme, executed by the East Europe Foundation with support from Switzerland.
