Support for IDPs and war-affected people: Ministry of Social Policy, Family and Unity and Danish Refugee Council discussed assistance project in frontline areas

Deputy Minister of Social Policy, Family and Unity of Ukraine Tetiana Kiriienko met with representatives of the Danish Refugee Council and its authorized representative, Head of Operations Aurélie Faucon. The parties discussed opportunities to strengthen cooperation in supporting internally displaced persons (IDPs) and coordinating efforts between the state and humanitarian partners.

One of the key topics of the meeting was the project “Comprehensive Emergency Assistance to People, Households, and Communities Affected by the Conflict and with the Most Urgent Needs in Ukraine”, implemented by the Danish Refugee Council with funding from the European Commission. Representatives of the Council presented the main directions of the project, and the parties discussed possibilities for support from the Ministry of Social Policy, Family and Unity.

The project provides comprehensive support to people affected by the war in frontline areas. In particular, it includes ensuring access to safe and suitable housing, repairing damaged windows and doors, insulating homes, and other measures to prepare for the winter period. Over 12 months, assistance under the project will be provided in districts of Sumy, Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhzhia, Kharkiv, Donetsk, and Kherson regions.

“People in frontline communities face the consequences of war every day and need timely support. It is important for us that necessary assistance is available where the need is greatest. That is why we are strengthening cooperation with humanitarian partners, pooling resources and capacities to more effectively support people in frontline communities,” said Tetiana Kiriienko.

The parties also discussed further areas of cooperation between the Ministry of Social Policy, Family and Unity and the Danish Refugee Council to enhance support for people affected by the war.
