On May 14, a Memorandum of Partnership and Cooperation was signed between the Ministry of Youth and Sports and NGO The Life Civil Representative Center.
Signatures on the document were put by Minister Ihor Zhdanov and the Executive Director of the NGO Lilia Olefir.
As the official noted, the Ministry's activities are aimed at promoting healthy lifestyles, in particular, in combating tobacco smoking, alcohol and drug use.
The Minister cited the data of the all-Ukrainian sociological study of the values and priorities of the contemporary Ukrainian youth in 2018. According to those, almost one in four Ukrainians aged 14 to 34 years old (23.6%) smokes daily, 14.7% smoke at least once a month and 15.4% did not smoke during the last 30 days but smoked before.
Under the memorandum the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Civic Representative Center, they will make every effort to attract young people to popularize and establish a healthy and safe lifestyle and a culture of health.
Among other things, there will be conferences, seminars and events on the development of programs in the youth sector aimed at popularizing and establishing a healthy lifestyle, conducting awareness-raising campaigns to counter the spread of tobacco products among the youth.
The signatories shall also facilitate the implementation of initiatives and projects to create conditions for effective protection of public health.
